Samini Dagaati Accuses Stonebwoy of Afrodancehall Genre Wars: "I Blame Him"

 

African dancehall-reggae icon Samini has ignited a fierce online debate after accusing former protégé Stonebwoy of unleashing the war over who invented the afrodancehall genre.

With an even stronger social media post, Samini did not hold back as he accused Stonebwoy of what he calls ambiguity regarding who actually invented the special mix of Afrobeats and dancehall, better known as afrodancehall.

"I blame him," Samini said, raising eyebrows from fans and music enthusiasts who have seen both acts mature and fight for decades.

The debate has revived the interest in the history of afrodancehall music in Ghana, a sound that has become extremely popular throughout Africa and the diaspora. Famers acknowledge Samini as one of the pioneers, with Stonebwoy also having a key role in propagating the sound globally.

But this new shot from Samini introduces a new dimension to their already complicated mentor-protege relationship, sparking debate among fans on who exactly can call themselves afrodancehall originator.
