| He’s Excellency John Dramani Mahama |
President John Dramani Mahama has made a stern warning to all appointees of government regarding asset declaration. The President made it clear that any appointed officer who will not make declarations by the end of day on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, is automatically on leave.
This order is also a demonstration of the administration's commitment to accountability and transparency in the public sector. By mandating timely declaration of assets, President Mahama aims to promote ethical governance and restore the confidence of the public in activities of government.
All government appointees will have to do it without exceptions. If by the end of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, you have not declared your assets, you are hereby dismissed, President Mahama insisted.
The word is clear: openness is not negotiable. The action is building on decades of demands from civil society and anti-corruption campaigners for the tightening of enforcement of asset declaration obligations among government officials.
It is regarded by analysts as a major move towards boosting integrity in the public sector, a move towards guaranteeing that public officials are made to be accountable to the highest levels.
